Carbon fiber is a very strong material but when it fails it fails fast. I really don't understand why they didn't use a mixed material with carbon, titanium, and steel. And had a skeleton frame of titanium connect the globe parts and was included in the middle part. Carbon alone is a very risky mat…

I know what caused this. Stockton put together a video of the Titan being assembled and there was a brief moment where one of the techs touched the titanium ring with his bare hands.
The skin oil caused a failure for the resin to bond at the micro-level. At those pressures? that was enough.
