When you said farmhouse ark I had the name "Oliver's Ark" pop into my head... Have you chosen a name for the barge ? Like the Loft beds, but maybe just use some netting between the lower master and upper loft. A net is more in keeping with nautical origins and cheaper than a pony wall...
